U.S. Brand Angus Beef and Hwy. 105 Storage will be providing the April Sound Men's
Club a special luncheon at the Walden Yacht Club. Chef Rick Adams will prepare U.S. Brand Angus Beef 7-ounce prime filet steaks
that will be prepared on specially leased, high heat mesquite grill. The event will be held Thursday, July 16 from 11:30 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m. The program will be "The Beef Industry Today," by Dan Grubb. There will be no charge for April Sound
Men's Club members for this special event.
It is hoped that April Sound will seriously consider acquiring
a high heat oven for the kitchen in the new clubhouse, thus becoming the only restaurant on Lake Conroe to have one. U.S.
Angus Beef has been approached by other area restaurants to purchase their beef. However, it was felt by U.S. Brand Angus
Beef that the beef would not be cooked to its full potential. Texas Monthly, in December, ranked the "Top 38 Steakhouses
in Texas", and it is interesting that over 75% of these restaurants used high heat ovens to prepare the prime cuts.
Ruth's
Chris Steakhouse asked the Montague Company to design the high heat oven in the 1970's. It is the combination of high heat
ovens (between 1500 and 2000 degrees) and the prime high marbled beef that yields the robust flavor of prime beef aged 28
days or more.
Also, it is not too early to start thinking about the April Sound USO Show to commemorate Veteran's Day on Friday,
November 13. The Rob Landis Trio will play World War II vintage music. There will also be 45 minutes of rebroadcast of the
legendary Bob Hope Christmas Shows during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. US Brand Prime Beef is donating, at cost, ribeye steaks
for the occasion. It is our strongest hope that April Sound will provide the high heat ovens.
